According to peoplepaparazzi.com, anyone with a camera phone can make money by snapping celebrities. It claims to have sold a picture of Colin Farrell kissing a girl in a New York pub for $4,500, Paris Hilton kissing her lover for $7,500 and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Canada for $20,000.
This is quite a difficult one, because let's face it without the paparazzi you're not going to get very far in the entertainment industry. Nearly every actor, actress, singer, dancer, pop band and I'm living off my famous parents name... has courted the media for that all important exposure. So when you needed it, you positively sought it... but once you've made it, you no longer need or want it, or at least not on the scale you once did.
This is very much a catch 22 situation when you become famous, and I'm not so sure it's going to be that easy to solve. If you begin limiting the press as to what is classed as 'intruding' and what is not, then they may just not bother to give you the limelight when you really do require your Star Treatment... such as at you're next album release, or new film premiere. Remember, if the press helped make you into the star you became, then they might also have the power to destroy your career.
Like I said, this is really not an easy one, and I feel for the celebrity, and a certain degree for the media. Fortunately, I don't have this problem as the only time I get photographed is either at Christmas, on my birthday, or on holiday, and nobody takes a good photograph when they're drunk!
